Emotional and Intellectual Programming, the Programs of mind:The Network System...Is there a program for "joy"?

Japanese
I hope you have understood my previous messages about the physical programming of the human being such as programs of respiration, circulation. That is the programs of body. Today I would like to talk about the programs of mind, emotional and intellectual programming.

Recently there has been much progress in the area of brain research, including the how the brain functions. Simultaneously, there has also been much research going on in the field of emotions.

From this viewpoint, I believe that the brain receives much stimuli from the outside which is transferred to the brain as a message, which in turn excites the brain, resulting in "heart" emotions. I believe that certain parts of the brain, respond differently to the different stimuli, and that there is a special place in the brain, in another words a network system of neurone (nerve cell), a neuronal system, for reacting to various kinds of stimuli and information.

For example, when one feels joy from listening to music, the information by music enters the ear and begins a journey through the brain, where its specific network system of neurones to become excited and end up as a state which is joy. It has already become apparent by the recent neuroradiology that these tiny mass of tissue, yet holding complex functions of the brain and its neuronal system. The system is activated by what I refer to as "the program". Thus, when one listens to music, the switch to this program is turned on, and one is able to experience the feeling of joy.

Next, I would like to think about memory as information entering the eyes. When one looks at something, its information enters the eyes and travels to the occipital lobe which allows the person to "see". In order to store information obtained by seeing, the temporal cortex and the parietal cortex have a lot to do with short-term memory, and the frontal cortex and the temporal cortex, as well as the hippocampus are functional in thinking about long-term memory. Even in memory, there are two different systems and their programs.

Hence, in the case of seeing, the switch to this network system is turned on when the eyes take in some kind of information and it is sent to the brains various sections, where specific neuronal systems exists. This allows the brain to store and use this information when appropriate.

I am afraid of becoming even more technical, so I will try and keep it simple. I believe that the brain is responsible for processing intelligence (i.e. thinking, learning, memorizing), emotions (i.e. joy, fear, happiness, anger) and desire(i.e. will). But what makes the adjustments for these various pieces of the neuronal network system for working is the programs so that information or stimuli reach the correct part of the brain and the correct functions kick into place.

We have observed and researched many behaviors of the fetuses and newborns, which convince us of the presence of the neuronal networks and their programs. In other words, no one teach or train fetuses' and newborns' behavior, yet they can do. Therefore "program" is organized by one's genetic makeup to operate neuronal network system.

An ultrasound picture of the fetus in the last months of pregnancy will show that the fetus sometimes sucking his/her finger or forearm. In fact, sometimes bruises or corns have been observed on the arm or the finger when the baby is born from too much sucking!

There is still some debate on how to interpret this fetal sucking, but there is no question that at least this is practice for sucking the mother's milk which is critical to the survival of the baby. After the baby is born, this finger-sucking behavior turns into the beginning of feeding, then later of the play behavior. Alternately, it may be a reflection of a coping mechanism for anxiety. Thus, the finger-sucking behavior is proof that presence of its program indeed exists.

As I have mentioned in a previous message, the newborn's first cry is functional in turning on the switch of the program of the respiratory system, a program of the body. However, crying is also the newborn's first reaction to the fears, anxieties and surprises associated with the traumatic experience of going through the birth canal and coming into the new world. Thus, it could be assumed that at least there is a neuronal system in the brain and its program for the fears associated with the separation of the mother.

After the baby is born, the newborn sometimes smiles angelically. This makes it easy to believe that there is a system and the program of smiling for the newborn that registers joy or relief, although it may be only a reflex then and later controlled by emotion. However there is the neuronal system and the program themselves present.

When the newborn is first given a bath or on the verge of sleep, the switch to the "smile" program is turned on. The face shows smiling expression. This indicate that there is the neuronal system to smile as the hardware. Because of their existence, the infant is able to smile or laugh controlled by emotion at the age of one or two months when the mother rocks him/her.

I agree that there is much more to the "program" of mind and that it may be hard for the reader to fully understand this complex system. In addition, it may seem that this talk about "programs" implies that humans are robots. But human has the programs to improve the other programs by education, training and others, that is the programs of learning, believing and the other higher brain functions. I would like to explore this topic of the human program further in my next message.
