The theme of the Ninth Conference of the Japanese Society of Child Science was "Fostering Children's Zest for Living: Creating an Environment of Empowerment." From an unprecedented natural disaster to new horizons, how can we maximize children's zest for living in the future?

On Day 1, Hideaki Koizumi, Hitachi Ltd., lectured on "Science and Creating an Environment that Fosters a Sense of Wonder," followed by a symposium on "Empowerment that Fosters Children's Zest for Living," On Day 2, two workshops were held: "Touching, Making, and Feeling: Wood Education and Empowerment" and "Connecting, Sparkling, and Vibrating: Toys and Empowerment" and lectures by Professor Tokie Anme, Chair of this conference, Tsukuba University, on "Growth and Child Raising Empowerment" and Professor Yukiko Ishii, Hosei University on "Spiritual Care and Empowerment."
