Initiated by Commonwealth in 1995, Education Network Australia (EDNA) is a national process for cooperation and collaboration between all sectors of the Australian education and training community,m focussing on information technology.
Its aim is to maximise the benefits of information technology for Australian education and training, and to avoid duplication of cost and effort between the various sectors and systems.
The EdNA process has established a collaborative framework which involves Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments, government and non-government schools, the vocational education and training (VET), the higher education and the adult and community education sectors.
The governing body for EdNA is the Open Learning Technology Corporation which is a company owned by the Commonwealth, State and Territory Ministers of Education and Training.
A key result of this collaboration through the EdNA process is the EdNA Directory Service. The WWW site which EdNA maintains is an Australian-directory of on-line education and training information and services for the whole Australian education and training community.
