What is "PLAYFUL"?, Part II |
From: Ruth Cox (11/22/1999 16:38:00)
What is playful?
Playful is free to respond, and to have an ease of well being. This kind of inner freedom can be carried into very stressful situations, but still there is a sense that one can respond with an open mind and heart. Playful is a state of awareness, an open and fluid feeling.
What does "playful" mean?
It means that you can bring your whole self freely towards any activity.
It means that whether you are doing creative problem solving, or playing music, or mowing the lawn, or diapering the baby, or painting a picture, you feel a lightness of heart, and an open mind that allows you to respond in each moment with fresh eyes.
What is it that makes your everyday life playful ? Being with playful friends, being in nature, making contact with what has heart and meaning, spending time with animals, children, making art, writing poetry--but mostly remembering that in each moment I have a choice to see the world as a creative, and inviting place, no matter what the activity.
When is it difficult for you to become playful? When I am stressed, when I am sick, or not rested enough, when life is over scheduled and hectic--when there is no time for renewal, and personal creativity.
Expectations for Playshop To enjoy meeting new friends, and learn more about the approach you have planned. To share some creative ideas about play through movement and creative expressions of different kinds. To reflect on the wonder and joy and potential that we all have within us that is our birthright.
