Learning to Learn

It is a common mistake to assume that learning is a bitter pill that needs to be sugarcoated in order to make kids swallow it. Most kids that haven't been taught that learning is un-cool genuinely like to learn. Kids are born with a love for learning. That's what kids do for a living.

An interviewer once asked Picasso "when you learned to paint, how did you learn to be so creative?" Picasso answered "you and I started learning at the same age, and I learned the same way that you did. The difference is that you stopped."

Because of the way that multimedia technologies and the Internet allow kids to take charge of their own learning, to explore subjects they are interested in, at a level they are comfortable with, the Clickerati will not attach the same stigma to learning as previous generations have.

The future that I see for these kids is one in which learning will be a 'cool thing' to do. And when learning is cool, learning to learn will become a highly valued skill for the future of our society.
