Kids will learn more and better if parents 'ride' with them on the road to learning. Modern parents are often intimidated by the technologies their children have already mastered. It is critical, however, that parents be willing to try out new technologies and multimedia products with their kids. Technology is part of their children's world And, as many psychological studies have shown, when I say parents, I mean step-parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, teachers, troop leaders, principals, caregivers -- everyone who participates in a kid's world; because they all have a role to play when it comes to kids' learning. Multimedia technology is a great tool for learning, but like any tool, it is only as good as its application. If we think of parents and teachers only as gatekeepers, or policy-makers, we are missing the point. We are missing new learning opportunities as well. |
