Association for Asia Research (AFAR)
Through research and communications, AFAR seeks to provide the American public with an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of Asian affairs in the interest of peace and prosperity. It is host to independent views and analysis on East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia, over a wide range of topics including culture, politics, economy, human rights, religion, security, science, and the environment. AFAR is a non-profit, non-partisan, and non-governmental research institution.

Association for Asian Studies (AAS)
AAS is a scholarly, non-political, non-profit professional association open to all persons interested in Asia. AAS seeks through publications, meetings, and seminars to facilitate contact and an exchange of information among scholars to increase their understanding of East, South, and Southeast Asia. AAS's membership includes scholars, business people, diplomats, journalists, and interested lay persons.

Asia Research Institute (ARI) of National University of Singapore
ARI was established as a university-level institute in July 2001 as one of the strategic initiatives of the National University of Singapore (NUS). Its mission is to provide a world-class focus and resource for research on the Asian region. ARI engages the social sciences broadly defined, and especially interdisciplinary frontiers between and beyond disciplines.

Asia Society
The Asia Society is America's leading institution dedicated to fostering understanding of Asia and communication between Americans and the peoples of Asia and the Pacific. A national nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization, the Society provides a forum for building awareness of the more than thirty countries broadly defined as the Asia-Pacific region - the area from Japan to Iran, and from Central Asia to New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands.

Asian Studies in Amsterdam (ASiA), University of Amsterdam
ASiA, an initiative of the University of Amsterdam, brings the knowledge of Asia experts from the university and elsewhere to the attention of a broad public. Since its founding in 2001, ASiA has organized a large variety of events focused on society and current affairs in Asia. ASiA's mission is to help inform the public the image and opinions of social issues in modern Asia, from an independent, critical and historical perspective.

Center for Asia-Pacific Initiatives (CAPI), University of Victoria, Canada
CARI was established in 1987 as an important element of the University of Victoria's plan to expand and strengthen its links with universities and other institutions in the Asia-Pacific region, especially with China, Japan, Southeast Asia, Korea, and the developing island states of the Southwest Pacific. The Centre's primary mandate is to conduct and facilitate research on policy issues related to the Asia-Pacific region.

International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS)
IIAS is a postdoctoral research centre based in Leiden and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Its main objective is to encourage the study of Asia from a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective and to promote national and international cooperation in this field. The institute focuses on the humanities and social sciences and, where relevant, on their interaction with other sciences.

ASIA EDUCATION

APEC EDNET (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Education Network)
In 1992, Education Ministers from 14 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) agreed to form an APEC Education Forum within APEC's Human Resources Development Working Group and to coordinate joint activities in the field of education. In January 2000, members of the Human Resources Development Working Group approved a restructuring plan which changed the Education Forum to the Education Network (EDNET).

Comparative Education Research Centre (CERC) at the University of Hong Kong
CERC, strongly research-oriented centre, was established in 1994 within the Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong. CERC has strong links with the World Council of Comparative Education Societies and the Comparative Education Society of Hong Kong

The Institute of Asia Pacific Education Development (iAPED), Seoul National University
The iAPED was established as a government-funded Brain Korea (BK21) research project team for Seoul National University in the subject area of Humanities and Social Sciences in 1999 to cultivate world class research-oriented graduate schools in Korea and to foster highly qualified educational experts who will play a leading role in the educational development of the Asia Pacific region.

Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization
SEAMEO was established in 1965 as a chartered international organization whose purpose is to promote cooperation in education, science and culture in the Southeast Asian region.
