Nagomi

Place : Kyoto
Taken by : H. G. (Doshisha International Junior/Senior High School)

This is a traditional Japanese room which let me relax.

Traditional Japanese tea. It is too hot.

I listen to my favorite music of this radio cassette player. I like music, especially rock.

My grandmother's garden. There is a lot of green.

“Nagomi” is a word which mean soft or relax and so on in English. “Nagomi” can write in kanji. If it explains in kanji ‘Nago’ mean the relation with the people or Japan. ‘Nago’ read ‘ Wa’ in the other reading of Japanese. ‘Wa’ lets me remember something Japanese and something important that present age's people forget. I think it is “Nagomi”. The present age's people get angry with someone or something too early. So some people kill the human spirit (snap) as soon as they are upset. If these people remember the spirit of “Nagomi”, I believe that peace will visit their minds. I like this word and there are several reasons. First, this word's pronunciation. I can relax when I hear this word. Second, I believe that this word had the power to change people's minds, so I like it. Finally, I can remember the spirit of peace when I look at this word, and I feel that I must keep a peaceful world.
