Umai

Place : Kyoto
Taken by : M. N. (Doshisha International Junior/Senior High School)
This is Hakata-Ramen. The soup is made from pigfs bones, and thin straight noodles fit with this soup. I was born in Kyushu. People in Kyushu like to eat Hakata-Ramen!
Sushi is very popular with Japanese people. For me, tuna sushi tastes so good!
Coca-Cola is my favorite drink.

Umai is a Japanese word that refers to delicious or tasty in English. gUmaih is not just used by young people, but all the Japanese people say this word naturally when they eat delicious food or drink. There is similar word, goishiih in Japan but most people use gumaih. The reasons might be that gumaih is much easier word to say than goishiih, and it sounds more cool to Japanese people.
Also, there is other way to use Umai. A person who does beautiful thing or to the great sport player, we says them gUmai personh.
As for me, I donft say gumaih. I say gUma!h because it sounds more cool. Nowadays, some of the gourmet reporters say gmaiuuh. I hate to hear this word because it sounds so bad. Umai is very nice word but in some case this word gives a bad impression to others because it is known as a lower word than goishiih. So sometimes you should use goishiih instead of gumaih.
